General Information:
The Newport School has a history dating back to the early 1900's. The lower school established in 1930 was known as the Town and Country Day School. The upper school was founded in 1981 and was called the Newport Preparatory School. The Preparatory School graduated its first class in 1986. In the fall of 1995, the two schools joined together and become The Newport School. In the fall of 2001, we situated in a temporary location and began our search to find a permanent site.
Newport's faculty and students moved into its new building on Tech Road in Silver Spring in mid-February 2006. As featured in the Montgomery County Gazette, our new location gives The Newport School stability and room to grow. Come see our beautiful new building and the enthusiasm it has generated in our students and staff!
Regardless of our name, we still remain a school where every student comes first.
