Mrs. Smith graduated from Syracuse University with a MS in Applied Mathematics. She taught math and computers in Oxford, New York before moving to the Washington, DC area. Once here, she worked in the computer field as a lead programmer/analyst and project manager for about 15 years. She spent 3 years substituting at an elementary school in Prince George's County Public Schools. Mrs. Smith came to Newport in 2006 to help as a substitute in various classes. She is now a team leader in the Middle School and teaches math and science.
