Mr. Tyson teaches mathematics in the Prep School. He received his undergraduate degree form American University in Washington, and his graduate degrees (MA, PhD (ABD)) in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also taught Economics and Mathematics courses at the University of Massachusetts.
Mr. Tyson worked for the U.S. Congressional Budget Office analyzing National Security issues, and served as a consultant to the defense industry. He also worked as a litigation support consultant, preparing mathematical models for use in antitrust and other cases before returning to his true calling, teaching.
Mr. Tyson is starting his third year at Newport following a stint as a long-term substitute in High School math and other subjects at the Barrie School.
